This leading equipment provider has seen over 30% growth over the past 5 years and now wishes to further bolster its Scandinavian sales team.

As an investor in staff, they provide the one-to-one support and training needed to progress a long-term career within their organisation.

Now recruiting for an extremely successful region, my client wishes to attract a Technical Sales Manager / Sales Engineer to focus on developing customers for their Analytical Instruments across Scandinavia (exact split of territories to be discussed).

Recognised for service delivery and offering some of the industry’s most advanced benchtop and floor-standing equipment, they pride themselves on their detailed attention to customers’ needs and dedication to the highest standards of performance and quality.

  • €100K – €140K Basic Salary (starting salary depends on experience)

Following the completion of your training and induction, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating from a home office and covering the Scandinavian territory (exact countries to be agreed).
  • Developing sales of my client’s scientific instruments (average order value of €250K) within the Academia (40%) and Industrial (60%) markets.
  • Working on a typical sales cycle of around 12 months from initial lead to purchase order.
  • Managing a €2-3m territory turnover.
  • Inviting customers to my clients’ European Demo Centre and for smaller benchtop systems working with the local Applications Engineering team to conduct on-site customer demonstrations and presentations.
  • Taking over and managing an existing sales pipeline within the territory, typically operating in a mixed hunting (50%) and farming role (50%).
  • Selling in at Professor, Quality Control Manager and Head of R&D level.
  • Generating and attending both face-to-face and virtual meetings.
  • Qualifying and responding to incoming inquiries (10+ per month).
  • Generating leads by holding local workshops and understanding which customers have older instruments that need replacing.
  • Working on annual sales objectives and targets.
  • Developing lasting relationships with customers.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum degree level education within a scientific or engineering field such as Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biological Sciences, or Material Science.  A Master’s or PhD would be highly advantageous but not essential.

Coupled with the above education, candidates will possess proven experience selling complex scientific instruments/equipment with a value of over €50K, this could include but is not limited to Microscopes, Lasers, CT Camera, SEM, TEM, XRF, MicroCT, Electron Microscopy, 3D Imaging, Optical Microscopes, Laser Deposition, Photonics, Sample Preparation, Electron Microscopes, Spectrometers, Nano-positioning, X-Ray Systems, Particle Accelerators, Particle Analysis or Sample Preparation (sputter coaters) equipment.

Other key skills required include:

  • Localised language skills (preferred).
  • Self-motivation with the inner drive to be successful.
  • Comfortable communicating at all levels.
  • A full driving license.
  • Resourceful with the ability to generate client appointments.
  • The right to work in the country this role is advertised (My client doesn’t offer sponsorship).
  • Team player with a willingness to learn.
